General
The Lovejoy ISD Athletic Department's current practice is to prohibit discretionary overnight travel for optional sports and fine arts competitions. UIL sanctioned playoff, or state-level competitions are not discretionary events as they require the team to participate or forfeit, ending the season. Therefore, when required for UIL playoff or state-level competitions, overnight travel may be permitted for students directly participating in these events.
Overnight travel accommodations will follow UIL, TEA, and CDC guidelines. Participating students will also have the option to room with their immediate family if staying on-site at the same hotel.
Due to the evolving nature of COVID-19, guidelines for overnight travel may change in the spring.
