Lovejoy beat Melissa 2-1 to open district play on Tuesday. Logan Corley started for the Leopards. The Freshman struck out 4 over 4 innings while not allowing a hit. Junior Parker Livingstone relieved Corley, finishing the last 3 innings allowing 1 run with 2 strikeouts.
Offensively, Lovejoy was able to scratch 2 runs early on a Kyle Branch double. Branch later scored on a pass ball. Pitching and defense dominated the rest of the game. The Leopards will face Melissa again on Friday.
