Travis Hallam

    Coach Hallam has entered his eleventh year of teaching and coaching overall and is in his fourth year of experience as a head coach. He has been around the game of basketball since he was three and since the age of eight has wanted to be a teacher and a coach. Coach Hallam playing experience started when he was five years old. In high school, he played for Mesquite High School under the tutelage of Coach Gary Taylor and played his senior year for Brian Curts who is the head coach at Mesquite High today. While a player at Mesquite High, Coach Hallam was a state semi-finalist in 2007 and a three time regional finalist in his  three year letter career. Coach Hallam has the most wins by a player in Mesquite High School history. 

    After graduating Mesquite High School, Coach Hallam received a full-scholarship from the University of Denver and played all four years of his career there. In his senior year the Pioneers set the most program wins as a division one program with twenty-two, that record still stands. In 2011, Coach Hallam was T-69th best shooter in the nation in the NCAA shooting 44% from the 3pt line while averaging 36 minutes a game. The radio announcer for the University of Denver, Mitch Hyder, honored Coach Hallam with the nickname "The Tick" due to his defensive prowess on the floor.

    Before becoming a head coach, Coach Hallam had the privilege of working for two of the best head coaches in the state of Texas in boys basketball. He worked for Brad Waters, the head coach at Rockwall Heath, for three years while he was there the Hawks experienced a perfect regular season going 29 - 0. The hawks were also ranked top ten in the nation for 3pts made in the season all three years that Coach Hallam was learning from Brad Waters. In his second stop as a varsity assistant, Coach Hallam, had the opportunity to learn from one of the best program builders in the state, Joe Duffield.  Joe Duffield is the head coach of Lake Highlands and while working together they took the Wildcats back to the playoffs which had not been done in almost a decade before their arrival. 

    Rockwall Heath High School presented the opportunity for Coach Hallam to become head coach of the Lady Hawk basketball program. The year before he made his debut the Lady Hawks went 1 - 27 and 0 - 12 in district. In his first year as the head coach the Lady Hawks went 23 - 12 and 6 - 7 in district and made a first round playoff appearance.
