DJ Lopez Bio

My name is Daniel J. Lopez, and I am the Head Softball Coach at Lovejoy High School. I have been coaching young kids for 18 years, and the experiences I learned have made me the coach I am today.  As a young boy, I looked up to my father who was a varsity baseball coach.  The positive influence he had on his players, transferred to my aspiration to become a mentor to young athletes.  As a coach, I am able to influence our future  leaders to believe in a culture of determination, dedication, mental toughness and the motivation to thrive for their dreams!  

My coaching experience has allowed me to grow professionally and build strong relationships within the community.  Coaching in 3A Tornillo, TX in El Paso County catapulted my career.  From there I became the assistant coach at, a 6A El Paso Socorro High School, 5A  Eastlake High school, and soon the Head Softball coach at El Paso Eastlake High School .  During my time with Eastlake High School, the El Paso Times ranked our softball team as the #1 team in El Paso County from 2017-2019.  In 2017, the team won a district, bi-district and area championship with a record of 31-5 and the deepest playoff run in Eastlake history. In 2018, the team hit a record of 34-6-2 becoming the 5A district, bi-district, and  area champions for the second year in a row, and I was named the 2-5A Coach of the Year.  In 2019, the team won our third district and bi district championship, and  I was named the 2-5A District coach of the year for a second year in a row and the El Paso Fastpitch Hall of Fame Coach of the year.  Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic cancelled the 2020 season, however, we ended with a 10-5 record., and a 101-23-2 Overall record at El Paso Eastlake. 

I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to be the Head Softball coach at Lucas Lovejoy.
