Lovejoy beat Frisco Independence 5-1 on Thursday behind a strong pitching performance and timely hitting.
Freshman Logan Corley started the game throwing 3 innings allowing one hit and striking out one. Parker Livingstone, Aidan Smith and Kyle Branch combined for the last 4 innings allowing only 1 run and striking out 5.
Offensively, the Leopards relied on the long ball as Corley and Smith both went deep. Corley hit a 2 run shot in the third. Smith hit a 3 run homer in the sixth inning to seal the victory for the Leopards.
