The Lovejoy JV Red came out strong in their game against Ursuline Tuesday night in their home opener to earn the 31-17 win. They struggled to score in the first half, but a strong defensive attack helped the Lady Leopards hold off the Lady Bears and keep the lead throughout the game. Linnea Maddux and Audrey McCaffity led the Lady Leopards with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Shelby Tokarz and Annalysa Ritchie each added 4 and Ashlyn DuBois chipped in 2 points. They improve to 1-1 on the season and take on Creekview next Tuesday night.

The JV Black evened their early season record to 1-1 after a 40-23 victory over the Ursuline Bears. The home opener for the Leopards saw Avae Odza lead all scorers with 12 points, followed closely by Sydney Chapman with 11. Other scorers for lovejoy were Kendall Dodson with 7, Katie Dolberrry and Hallel Pang both with 3, while Maddie Clancy and Soli Stubbs both added 2 pts. The JV Black will travel to McKinney to participate in the JV tournament starting this Thursday evening.

The Varsity team erased a 13 point deficit late in the third quarter to come back and defeat Ursuline in the home opener by a score of 40-39. The Leopards were led by Julia Brochu with 9 points that all came from behind the arc. Other scorers included Samantha Basson 7 points, Carsen McFadden 7 points, Addison Hand 6 points, Mallory Adamson 4 points, Grace Bennett 4 points, and Carly Ludlow 3 points. Other statistical leaders were Carsen McFadden with 11 rebounds and 4 assists, and Addison Hand with 4 steals and 2 blocks. Lovejoy will be back in action on Friday at 6:00pm in a home matchup vs The Colony.
